Badge of Honor: Jonathan Adler

It’s the first Friday, and the first Badge of Honor, in 2014! To mark this exciting occasion, we’re giving our little Ecommerce Outtakes award to Jonathan Adler‘s ecommerce site. Leave it to a brand that’s all about design to have a well-designed website. Overall, this site is simple and easy to navigate while still showcasing the personality behind the brand. Let’s take a look at the specific features that earned this site it’s Badge.

Big, easy buttons, social media integration, and even a link directly to customer service. My favorite part however has to be the product copy itself. I know, I know, as a writer I’m a bit biased. I just have a lot of appreciation for product copy that conveys the witty and fun tone of the brand. “WASP necessities” is too funny! Love it.

Another awesome feature of the product page can be found by scrolling a bit further down. The Jonathan Adler ecommerce store offers a nice recommendation feature to show related products that the user might also be interested in. Again, the fun copy comes into play. Rather than just saying something bland like “Recommended products,” this site says “You’d be mad not to check out…” The brand voice shines through, which is an excellent way to connect with customers. The best part though? Shoppers can add these items directly to their cart without having to navigate to another page. You don’t see that every day… Too cool!

When you hit the Add to Cart button on one of these recommended products, a little popup appears to show you your cart. It even offers buttons for Checkout and International Checkout, which is fantastic. I have to give a big thumbs up to sites that really consider their international customers! I clicked the View Cart link to take a look at the cart review page. As you can see, it’s very clean and simple, easy to edit, and even offers a one-click gift wrap option. The field for promotional codes and the security verification are clearly displayed. It hits all the marks, and hits them well.

The simplicity of the design coupled with the way the brand voice shines through makes for a nice shopping experience. As features go, the ability to add recommended products directly to the cart is top-notch. Add to that the simple cart review page and international checkout, and you’ve got yourself a Badge of Honor. Congrats guys, keep up the good work!
