We’ve talked a bit about the importance of having a good international presence on an ecommerce site. In fact, we gave a Badge of Honor to Fred Perry, Topshop and Gucci for their geolocation features. Today, I’m awarding another international ecommerce Badge of Honor to Black Milk Clothing. One of the reasons for their win is simple: Free international shipping!
This brand is based in Australia, so it makes a lot of sense for them to offer free international shipping to create an incentive for shoppers from other countries into purchasing. They are not subtle about this offer, either. When you visit the site, this is what you’ll find on the landing page: Now, when you start browsing, you’ll see that the prices are in Australian dollars (AUD), but there’s a currency link at the top right of the page that allows you to adjust the currency. Easy and painless. All international sites should make it this simple! Okay, I want to draw attention to another cool feature of this site besides the great international stuff. Black Milk does an excellent job of integrating other brands into their ecommerce store as well. For example, when you click on the Star Wars section, you see the Star Wars logo at the top. Or when you’re in the shoe category, you see the Jeffrey Campbell and Black Milk logos together. It doesn’t detract from the overall look and theme of the site, but it also showcases the particular brands in the collaboration. I love what Black Milk is doing on the site with the international features and the logo integration. Plus, I’m an absolute sucker for their line of Star Wars-inspired dresses and leggings. Might have to have some shipped from Australia… for free!
