Price Filters on the Fancy

Back in August, we wrote a post about The Fancy, pointing out some difficulties we were having with navigation, purchasing and filters on the site. We checked back in on The Fancy, and we’re happy to report that they listened. When you hover over the Gifts tab, there are now some cool filtering options. Check it out: price filters!

Now, this is a good start. We definitely appreciate the attempt! However, this price filter is nowhere near perfect.

For example, I clicked on the $20 – $100 option. When I got to the results page, I was surprised to see that prices aren’t shown. It seems a little crazy that I have to click on every product I’m interested in to see the price. What a time consuming and annoying way to shop!

On top of that, there isn’t even a sorting function. I would suggest giving people the ability to sort from lowest to highest price, or vice versa. This is a big price range! What if I only want to spend $30 or $40? I am still going to have to scroll through all the $90 and $100 items to find the price point I’m looking for.

Overall it’s a nice effort, but there’s still plenty of room for improvement here. I think The Fancy still has some work to do on the site to make their shopping experience truly great.

This still isn’t faceted search. The lack of sorting is just a band aid for the lack of a hierarchical price facet like — for example — what B&H uses or some other approaches I’ve seen. See http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?atclk=Price_%241000+to+%241499.99&ci=16073&N=4205668456+4293918139. The lack of prices on products, well, that’s bizarre.
