Let’s Take It To The Next Level!

I really like the look book shopping experience that Next.co.uk has going on.  It’s nice to be able to easily purchase items and complete the look, however, there are a few issues with this page.  Let’s explore…

First of all, let’s check out the product views… the arrows are small and very easy to miss, so you might not know that you have about 12 options to click through!   Too bad you need to click and click and click to see all the items available.  It seems like Next is trying  to have a sleek design but it is affecting navigation  and adding confusion to their appreciated look book feature.

Another issue I am seeing is the Collection Promotion for jeans at the bottom of the main image.  This ad was designed for the homepage and meant to see much larger.  Much like Geeks.com, I gotta get my glasses out for this one. Even then, it is so small, I can’t read it.  Maybe this was an attempt to be efficient and re-use your designed and paid for promos, but in the end, it just looks a little lazy. There are better ways to fill this empty space…

Lastly, check out the merchandising in the “Customers Also Bought” area… more of the same stuff..reminiscent of Jack Spade much?  I can get all the items suggested on this very page, so how about we use this real estate to promote some other items.

But no need to worry, all these issues are minor and can be easily fixed…

Product Views:  Move them from the side and place them smaller below the main image.  Ahhh.. now you can see that you have all these options to explore, and even better, it only takes one click to see what you want.

Customers Also Bought:  Check it out…Some different items that I may have missed while browsing.  Impulse buys will amp up that shopping cart, but it’s up to you to make the suggestion!

Collection Promo:  While I didn’t take the time to redesign a brand new ad for you, Next, I did crop it up a bit and make it a little more appropriate in size and placement.  What do you think, eh?

So Next, in the end, a few simple shifts and mix-ups can take your site to the next level… Will you accept the challenge?

Excellent idea about mixing up the merchandise.
